Why are so many turning to rabbits as pets?

What I hear from those who contact me.. not only are rabbits just the coolest pets ever. They are easy to train, affordable and extremely loving and rewarding pets. Personally I have had other breeds in the home. I have had dwarf breeds and Rex.  The one main difference I notice is that my Flemish do not chew everything in sight all the time. I scold them one time.. show them where their chew sticks are.. and that's the end of the chewing. I do not have to put soap, or harsh spray on my antiques or computer wires to keep them safe. I can allow my rabbit to run freely when Im away knowing my grandmothers rocking chair will be in one piece when I return.

Flemish Giant Rabbits are highly sociable and will want to interact with other pets. This does not mean that other pets will enjoy having a giant rabbit lay down beside or on them. It does mean the rabbit will quickly adapt to and except other animals in the home.

I do not recommend a Flemish Giant for small children. Small children enjoy picking up and dragging around animals. The Flemish Giant is very gentle, however has large claws and if they try to get away can injure a child.  The Flemish is a very passive breed, however will not stand for abuse. They will retaliate if abused. This is their definition of the word, not yours.

I would only recommend males as pets. They are territorial, and have their marking spot that they potty in. A female is less discrete. She also will leave poop everywhere, a male will want all his poop in his spot. Females are also fussy about how they are handled. I personally have a female house rabbit and enjoy her dearly. I also have a Standard Poodle that thinks of her droppings as special treats. If not for that I would be cleaning constantly. Ivy also does not allow me to pick her up. She will jump up beside me on the bed, or sofa, or ask for attention, but will not allow me to pick her up. She has to get up on her own. This is in sharp contrast to most males.

Rabbits in short are cheaper then a cat or dog to own. Low maintenance, and highly affectionate. They will walk on a leash, come when called, can learn tricks, and are easily house trained. Rabbits do not bark, whine, claw furniture, or require  expensive trips to the vets. They do not require a city license, or special health papers when traveling domestically. They are not covered under the NAIS laws at this time. They are exempt from the PAWS bill as well. They are a warm loving easy to care for pet that gives love and affection for 8-10yrs on average.

The rabbits I sell are all show quality. That means that your family can feel confidant going to a local rabbit show and possibly placing. I don't promise first place ribbons, I do promise quality.
